Blog Stage 5

I think that the current United States Congress is doing a terrible job at spending this nations money.  America should be trying to better itself instead of spending money on excess military. How can you justify spending over 600 billion dollars on the military when knowing people can’t get healthcare? Shouldn’t saving American lives be a higher priority instead of maintaining a large global military? We should be using our money to save peoples lives at home instead of on military expenditure.

Why are we spending so much money on keeping illegal immigrants from passing through the southern border? We should make it easier for people from Mexico to migrate over to America. Immigrate workers that fill low paying jobs, like construction, help boost the economy by allowing people with higher paying jobs to be more productive. We could spend the money we save from defending our borders towards education or healthcare!

Why should we be spending money on excess weapons when we could be educating our population more effectively? Why do we have to have seventeen aircraft carriers when other countries that have only have one or two? We should be spending money on public education instead of buying military ships we don’t need! Why should we have to settle for lesser education? Aren’t we Americans?  Shouldn’t we strive for the best or at least make an effort to become the best?

Blog Stage 3

I disagree with K.t. Mcfarland's opinion that the war on terror isn't over. She does make good points that we still have factions of people out there that want to fight us to the end. The thing is that doesn't mean we are still on a war on terror. we are not officially at war with any state. She can't say a war isn't over if we aren't officially at war. she also say's that we should go all out to stop them because it's good for our economy. We shouldn't be using the military industrial complex as a way to keep our economy going. We should be using socialist reforms to help the people who aren't economically stable. It is immoral to kill people for money.

She also says that we have the right to kill factions of people because they are willing to die to destroy us. We shouldn't be raging a war on people who aren't an immediate threat to us. We have the resources and the power to circumvent foreigners who trying to commit terror attacks. There hasn't been a major terrorist attack in the U.S. since 9/11. The executive branch of our government has stopped dozens from happening since then. Sane American's aren't living in fear of dying from a foreign terrorist attack that might happen when they walk out the front door. American's don't have to have war.
